Trustee Vacancies and Opportunities to Volunteer
Trustee Vacancy - The Academy of Nutrition Sciences
The Nutrition Society has two Trustee positions on the Board of Trustees of the Academy of Nutrition Sciences. Following the recent retirement by Professor Julie Lovegrove from the Board, a vacancy now exists, and the Society Trustees wish to call for volunteers to replace Julie. As the Academy is the umbrella body for BNF, AfN, BDA and The Nutrition Society, this Trustee role is considered to be a ‘senior’ appointment. The current Board composition can be found here https://www.academynutritionsciences.org.uk/people and details of the scope of work of the Academy here https://www.academynutritionsciences.org.uk/about.
Members who are interested in applying for the Trustee position should, in the first instance, send an email expressing their interest to the CEO [email protected].
The Nutrition Society Trustee Vacancies - Update
At the recent Trustee meeting held on 14 April, Trustees held their annual review of the Council and Trustee election process. This year, only two vacancies will occur for members to apply for, and in both these roles (Honorary Secretary and Honorary Programmes Officer) the incumbents wish to stand for a second term. Trustees understand many members may feel they would not wish to stand for election against an existing Trustee.
However, the Trustees have set in motion a consideration of three new/amended Trustee roles, which may become available later this year or in 2027. The first is a new role for Strategic Communications, the second is a new role for Policy. The third role relates to the Society’s global activities, and whether a Trustee for International Affairs is still needed (following the retirement from the role this July by the current incumbent). As soon as this exploratory work is complete, members will be notified of any new Trustee opportunities and how they will be able to apply for them.
