The Trustees are seeking applications for an Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Nutrition (BJN), the Nutrition Society’s flagship journal. The BJN is an international, peer-reviewed, journal that publishes original papers and review articles across the full spectrum of nutritional science.

The main focus of the journal is to increase knowledge in nutritional science relevant to human or animal nutrition. The BJN welcomes manuscripts that report studies in nutritional epidemiology, nutritional requirements, metabolic studies, body composition, energetics, appetite and obesity. Manuscripts that address interactions of nutrition with endocrinology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular and cell biology, neuroscience and physiology and that report outcomes relevant to health, behaviour and well-being are also within scope for the BJN

In addition, to overseeing the progress of submitted manuscripts, the EiC is responsible for the strategic development of the journal. The EiC has responsibility for ensuring that, i) the journal is innovative and continues to attract the best nutrition research manuscripts and ii) the journal maintains its international profile as the flagship journal of the Nutrition Society. A significant component of work also involves dealing with ethical issues and liaising with, and managing, the Editorial Board.

The incoming Editor-in-Chief will work alongside the current Editor-in-Chief, Professor John Mathers, for eight months to ensure a smooth transition before officially assuming the role.
