We are pleased to announce the winner of the British Journal of Nutrition Paper of the Year award is Dr Getachew Arage and colleagues for their paper: 'Effects of prenatal exposure to the 1983–1985 Ethiopian great famine on the metabolic syndrome in adults: a historical cohort study'
The winning paper was selected by an external panel of experts from a short-list drawn up by the BJN Deputy Editors.
We spoke to Dr Arage below about the win, and what is means to him:
'Primarily, I want to thank for those of you who were there for making the competition really and honestly. Having said this, I am highly delighted for the golden opportunity that I have recorded as a winner of this year paper competition on British Journal of Nutrition. Being a winner of this year competition inspires me to do more paper work in this regard. It also makes me proud and get great recognition from my colleagues and staff members of the institution whom I am working with, and it render me additional responsibility to look forward and keeps myself in the top position like what I have got now. Besides, as I am a young research scholar, I am looking for further research work on similar issues; the competition and the path that I went through the competition provides me great lesson for my career.'
