Professor Keith Frayn is Emeritus Professor of Human Metabolism at the University of Oxford.

In the scientific field of nutrition and metabolism, Keith is a highly-respected contributor to the current understanding of fat metabolism, which has been the focus of his research for many years, as a member of the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM). He was the first winner of the Nutrition Society’s Blaxter Award (2018).  He is the author of the very successful text book Human Metabolism: a Regulatory Perspective (2019, Wiley-Blackwell, with R.D. Evans) which is now in its fourth edition and illustrates how metabolic regulation allows the human body to adapt to many different conditions.  More recently he has published Understanding Human Metabolism (2022, CUP) aimed at the general public.
