The Institute of Food Science & Technology (IFST) is the leading qualifying body for food professionals in Europe and the only professional body in the UK concerned with all aspects of food science and technology. Our membership comprises individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, from students to experts, working across all aspects of food science and technology, and from academia through to enforcement.

The Role:

IFST is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced food scientist to take on a critical new management role, providing the principle focus for scientific activities and affairs within the Institute. The role will ensure the accuracy of IFST’s scientific voice throughout its range of activities, reinforcing the Institute’s existing internal scientific capability, enabling it to be more proactive and responsive over its scientific communications with its various stakeholder audiences.

The Person:

We are looking for an individual with 5-10 years’ experience working in a significant technical role in the food sector having attained a BSc or equivalent level qualification in a science discipline. With strong communication skills, the successful candidate must be able to explain and translate potentially complex scientific information to suit a wide range of audiences. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, can work largely autonomously but at the same time able to integrate with the existing Head Office team.

The successful candidate will be able to relate well to younger, student, audiences as well as with more senior players in the food sector and Governments through their strong networking skills.
