Jointly organised by national student-led organisation Nutritank, this conference will take a closer look at knowledge and innovation in nutrition, and how to apply and action in real-life settings.
Hear from a multidisciplinary array of groundbreaking speakers as we address the concept of nutrition and lifestyle medicine from theory to practice.
We'll look at how innovative projects are driving change within the medical curriculum and medical practice, providing an insight into the latest evidence-based information related to lifestyle and nutrition so that you can fight the fads, help your patients navigate nutritional information and understand the value of self-care for both doctors and patients in modern society.
We'll also be running an optional interactive workshop on health coaching in medicine, led by Dr Arti Maini, GP, medical educator, co-author of Coaching for Health and coaching lead for the Medical Education Innovation and Research Centre (MEdIC) at Imperial College London. The session will explore key principles of health coaching in supporting behaviour change and you will learn how to start applying health coaching skills in practice. You will have a chance to practice these skills with each other using your own real issues, so please come prepared with a health behaviour topic that you would like to address. Dr Maini will also share experiences of developing and implementing health coaching training for all incoming medical students at Imperial and how this could be implemented more widely. Book your place for this free session when purchasing your ticket.
There will also be a presentation on the issues of weight stigma and how damaging this can be for patients and society as a whole.
