There is a growing recognition that dietary choices can have profound effects on individual health and well‐being. But with a better understanding of inter-individual variability in response to diets, foods, nutrients and bioactive compounds, it may be possible to more effectively tailor dietary advice to meet individual needs. Within this, the complex interactions between our personal gut microbiomes, our own genomes and the food we eat may well be key.
