Information on COVID-19 and the Society’s Conferences
Statement date: 10 March 2020
The Nutrition Society recognises the public concern regarding the outbreak of COVID-19 and the possible impact upon the Irish Section Conference (17-19 June 2020) and the Summer Conference (13-16 July 2020).
The Society is closely monitoring the situation and, at this present time, the conferences will continue to take place.
While the global situation is continuing to change, both the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the UK Government confirm that currently there is no reason to defer or postpone travel to and within the UK. Numerous national and international meetings continue to take place within the UK. Should the situation change, the Society will contact all registered participants and partners and also announce it on the Society’s website.
Consideration is also being given to the publication of accepted abstracts in the event that these conferences are cancelled.
The Society’s paramount concern is the health and wellbeing of participants, and it continues to follow the recommendations of national and international public health authorities. The Society urges everyone to keep themselves up to date on the latest reliable information, and to be aware of, and adhere to, travel recommendations from local and international health agencies.
