The prestigious Nutrition Society Silver Medal has been awarded annually since 1991 for scientific excellence in the field of Nutrition. The competition is now open and Nutrition Society members from all disciplines are eligible to apply. The closing date for application is 19 March 2010. The elections for Council will take place at the Nutrition Society Annual General Meeting which will be held at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh as part of the Society’s Summer Meeting, on Wednesday, 30 June 2010. Nominating and voting for members to serve as Honorary Officers and Members of Council, are very important elements of being a member of the Nutrition Society. Make sure you are part of the process.
A member of the Nutrition Society is offering hard copies of Proceedings of the Nutrition Society (volumes 39–63, 1980–2004). To obtain the journals, please contact the Nutrition Society office at pns@nutsoc.org.uk The journals are available until 23 March 2010, and recipients will be required to make their own arrangements to collect/arrange receipt of the journals (from Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire).
The Food Standards Agency and Department of Health have published the report of year 1 of the NDNS rolling programme (February 2008 to March 2009). This report focuses on UK food consumption and nutrient intakes for adults aged 19 to 64 years and for children aged 18 months to 3 years, 4 to 10 years and 11 to 18 years.
