Register Search Explainer

1. How employers can check if your nutritionist is on the Voluntary Register of Nutritionists.

 

You can search on

· last name or

· registration number

 

2. How registrants can use the register to find a colleague

You can search on

· last name or

· registration number

· town or country or

· postcode.

 

3. How anyone can find a Registered Nutritionist to work for you or provide you with advice. Do you want a registrant who is self employed or works part-time as a consultant in a specific aspect of nutrition?

        · Go to the drop down menu and choose “freelance”

 

Some registrants work with only with people others work with animal clients.

· Go to the drop down menu and choose either animal or human, whichever you want.

 

If you want to find a registant with a specific interest, choose one of the topics in the drop down menu labelled ‘topic’

4. Now you’ve found a registrant, what does the entry mean?
(i) Each registered nutritionist has a unique registration number with a prefix to
show their category of registration:

A registrant who is a recent graduate is either

· an Associate Nutritionist (Assoc Nutr) prefix A or

· or Associate Public Health Nutritionist (Assoc PHNtr) prefix APHN.

A full registrant has professional experience, either

· Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) prefix N or

· Registered Nutritionist (RPHNutrs) prefix P

 

(ii) On our register are individuals who meet high standards in the science-based professional practice of nutrition:

· At least a B Sc (Honours) in Nutrition or equivalent

Equivalence means able to show he/she developed the specialist competencies in science-based nutrition or public health nutrition over many years

And

· Agree to abide by the Code of Ethics and Statement of Professional Conduct and Standards of Competency in eitherNutrition or Public Health Nutrition.

Registrants undertake to keep up to date in and work within their own scope of practice .

· Have kept up payments of the annual registration fee.

5. Cannot find your nutritionist?

If your nutritionist claims to be on this Voluntary Register but you cannot find him or her contact the registrar (registrar@nutsoc.org.uk). He or she may be on the register but not shown because we are in the process of developing the new register to replace the old one from April 1st 2007.

        · guarantee that there is a registered nutritionist in every part of the UK.

        · guarantee that every registrant has provided a contact email address.

        · supply an address unless authorised to do so by a registrants.
